Patients with no French national health insurance cover

Quote, stay and cover

Patients covered by French social security: book your appointment here.

What is already settled for a patient with no French national health insurance cover: the consultation fee, when a quote is given, what changes the length of a stay in Paris, and two ways the fees may be paid.

Consultations in French or English, in person or by video, for patients coming from the United States, Africa, the Middle East or elsewhere.

Former resident at Centre François Baclesse (Caen) and Institut Curie; former specialist practitioner at Gustave Roussy (French comprehensive cancer centre).

Publication

Dr Zeitoun is the sole author of a literature review accepted for publication (in press, 2026) in Gynécologie Obstétrique Fertilité & Sénologie (Elsevier): “Axillary de-escalation, oncoplastic surgery and minimally invasive mastectomy: new requirements for the breast surgeon”. It covers operating less on the lymph nodes under the arm when it is safe to do so, oncoplastic surgery, and less invasive mastectomies.

What patients come for

  1. Second opinion on a breast cancer
  2. Breast cancer surgery
  3. BRCA / hereditary risk, preventive surgery
  4. Immediate breast reconstruction at the time of mastectomy
  5. Delayed (secondary) breast reconstruction
  6. Breast lesions at risk: fibroadenoma, radial scar, atypical ductal hyperplasia, atypical lobular hyperplasia, phyllodes tumours
  7. Gynaecological cancers (ovarian, uterine, cervical)
  8. Fibroids, hysterectomy
  9. Labiaplasty (nymphoplasty)

The consultation fee

With no French national health insurance cover, a consultation, in person or by video, costs €150–200 in total depending on consultation length and the medical records to review, not reimbursed in France. Sector 2, non-OPTAM. Payment: bank card and cash.

The quote, and the language of the visit

A quote follows the consultation, whether that visit is in the consulting room or by video. That conversation with the surgeon may be held in English.

What sets how long you stay

How long a stay in Paris lasts is not fixed in advance. It turns on the tests already completed before the consultation or the teleconsultation — biopsies, MRI — for the breast as for the pelvis. Getting over a lumpectomy takes less time than getting over a hysterectomy. Around day 10, Dr Zeitoun likes to see patients again, when the results are in.

How the fees may be paid

Some governments or insurers pay directly; their written guarantee is requested before surgery. Otherwise the patient pays the fees upfront and is given a certificate, then an invoice, so she can claim reimbursement from her insurer or scheme. Nothing here promises that reimbursement, or that an embassy will agree.
